Coming up for Air
You may have noticed that things have been a little quiet over here at the Spider Strategies blog. We've been hard at work on a major new software release that isn't quite ready to announce yet. Until then, I have more than a few exciting things to share about version 2.
I'll be posting here once or twice a week until I'm able to work though our backlog of new functionality announcements. As you're about to find out, we've been busy.
Easier to Edit Dashboards
Version 2.8 has been out for a few months now, and one of the most popular changes is that dashboards are much easier to edit.
If you're familiar with dashboards, you know that they show information about many different scorecard objects. Sometimes the same dashboard layout will be used across multiple organizations. It used to be incredibly time consuming to rebuild a dashboard with the same appearance but for different scorecard objects.
In version 2.8, there's a new “swap” button when editing dashboards. When you click it, it lists all of the scorecard objects being represented on the dashboard. Clicking on the information icon next to each scorecard object displays the full path of the object.
This is a handy way to get an inventory of all of the scorecard objects showing on your dashboard. When you click the name of a scorecard object, you'll see a menu where you can replace all instances of that scorecard object in the dashboard at once.
This can be incredibly helpful when creating similar dashboards for multiple organizations. If your scorecards are identical, though, we go one step further. When you copy a dashboard to a different organization, the software will now intelligently re-map the objects on the dashboard to match the objects in the new organization. For this to work, the scorecards for the two organizations need to be the same. If you do have organizations with identical scorecards, however, this will dramatically speed up the time it takes to create dashboards.
